Walter R. Selens, LMT, CST, SMT
Walter R. Selens, LMT, CST, SMT began his Therapeutic Bodywork career in 1988 on Cape Cod, MA where he studied Energy work, Reiki, and Auras. He switched to Therapeutic Massage in 1990 and graduated from the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy in Worcester, MA in 1993 focussing on Sports Rehabilitation. Also a Certified Martial Arts Instructor, Walter has been able to use his experience of competing nationally to better understand and work with the beginning or professional athlete.Walter became certified with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in 1993. In the same year, he became an Internationally Certified Infant Massage Instructor and a Prenatal Specialist with the Visiting Nurses Association. In 1998, he became certified in Somatic Therapy (muscle re-education), which can benefit any client from bad posture to injury rehab to an athlete looking for a natural edge. In 2003, Walter became a certified Sports Massage Specialist with the CORE Myofascial Institute in Florida. Walter is a co-captain of the Maine Sports Massage Team, an instructor at the New Hampshire Institute for Therapeutic Arts in Bridgton, ME and also teaches "Infant Massage Instruction for Dads" at various locations. Acupressure awakened her interest in Asian Medicine and led her to acupuncture college. Meret worked at the Immune Enhancement Project in Portland, OR, with Aids, MS and cancer patients, and at Hooper Detox Center in Portland, OR, with acupuncture addiction treatment. In her private practice she blends her experience in Asian Medicine with her counseling skills and her work with the body-mind connection. Meret maintains a general practice, treating all ages and conditions. Her areas of expertise are Women's Health (including menstrual problems, infertility, pregnancy and labor, and menopause), stress-related and emotional conditions (e.g. headaches, insomnia, depression and anxiety, trauma and abuse) as well as lowered immunity (MS, fibromyalgia, adjunct therapy for cancer). |
